Vollmer Offices – Albany

Townsend Architects merged with Vollmer Associates in 2003.  A combination of formal and informal meeting areas, along with private and shared workspaces, allows flexibility and encourages a team atmosphere in this 11,000 SF space.  Wall locations and heights are carefully placed to control sight lines, provide views to the exterior, produce “personal work spaces” and allow separations between working and support spaces without the use of doors.  The absence of a “dropped” ceiling in the main workspace allows the volume to expand up to the exposed roof structure, providing relief from the monotonous volumes typical in many modern day offices.
